At Costa Maya Sport Fishing we feel it is critically important to maintain a high quality operation using local expertise combined with a high strong focus on safety. This combination along with the best tackle available allows us to offer a customers a high end, enjoyable and world class sport fishing tour, both offshore, near shore and inshore in this beautiful fishing village on the Costa Maya.

We use state of the art Penn Mariner trolling (80lb) and spinning rods (40lb)and Squall and Slammer II reels fitted out with either monofilament or braid, and 200lb or 80lb shock leaders. At the sharp end, we offer a large selection of Rapala, Williamson and Halco lures, and tuna/wahoo ballyhoo rigs.

For the blue water fly fishing enthusiast, we have an extensive selection of high end saltwater fly fishing tackle. We use Sage, Scott Meridian, Thomas & Thomas, TFO, and Orvis Rods in a range of weights from 6# to 14#, kitted out with Tibor, Abel, Nautilus, Sage, Lamson and Ross Reels.

No Expectations Fishing Ltd operates a 24 ft customised fishing lancha equipped with downriggers, out of Mahahual with our own experienced captain and crew, all fisherman born and raised in the village.

In addition, our lancha has recently been equipped with a state of the art Garmin GPS/Chartplotter/Sonar Combo Echomap Plus 94SV fishfinder. The built-in sonar capabilities of ECHOMAP Plus 94sv include CHIRP as well as traditional sonar. CHIRP sonar is one of the most sophisticated sonar technologies available for the fishing and boating. Structure, submerged objects and fish are clearly identifiable. This is a tremendously useful and powerful tool to be able to fish large expanses of open water effectively and it is a significant competitive advantage for a quality fishing business.

Safety is, of course, paramount. We always carry a Standard Horizon HX870 FLOATING CLASS D DSC GPS VHF, which offers a whole new level in safety and performance in a marine floating handheld VHF/GPS.

We also have a SPOT Generation 3 GPS tracker, which allows us to check in and track the trip, sending GPS coordinates/ a message to relevant contacts, as well as tracking the trip via GPS/Google Earth. We use the unit for its advanced safety features including a Subscription bases SOS function which sends a signal to GEOS Emergency Response Center, who will then contact local search and rescue services.

In addition, we provide life jackets, restubes, experience with the local conditions as well as a healthy dose of common sense.
